Drawing is a talent that I have had since childhood. There is excitement in learning - like a magician - how to take an image from the world and make it appear on a piece of paper before you. I have taken classes at the Chicago Art Institute as a teenager, classes in painting and drawing throughout college and several years of nature drawing from experts at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois. Keeping a sketchbook is one of my specialties and I have taught several classes in this exciting exercise to children at the Oak Park Conservatory in Oak Park, Illinois. At this time, I am working on illustrating a book of poetry about many different kinds of animals. I also developed a line of fine cards and stationery based on my drawings and photographs by Larry Godson, of scenes of native plants of the prairie. Nature and figure drawing has been the inspiration for much of my artwork however,
I also frequently work with photo imagery, mine as well as others.
Graphic Design is a skill that I have been employing for over 20 years. At first, it was simply a tool I used to work with my card and stationery line. Later, I began developing more of an interest in the astonishing power of Adobe Photoshop. At this time, I am using Adobe Creative Suite 6 to bring images and publications to life.
